The BOPP Certification Scheme will be launching its 21st anniversary year at the Contact 17 conference (17-18th January), and BOPP Chair, Rebecca Grant, is looking forward to sharing success stories from past and present members. Rebecca was elected as the new BOPP Chair in October and has taken over the role following the departure of David Coop from Westland Horticulture. A special booklet will be produced to celebrate the anniversary and the benefits it has delivered to the industry. The BOPP Management Committee and Scheme Manager, Anna Cook, are currently working on a promotional plan for 2017, which will include a new logo, twitter account and marketing material to retailers and other plant specifiers. There will also be a special technical event and an anniversary lunch or dinner in 2017, to which past and present members, directors and auditors will be invited to attend.

Rebecca commented: “I am honoured to return to the chair of BOPP to, with the help of my Committee and HTA, drive the scheme through its third decade. I owe huge gratitude to David Coop our departing Chair for steering the BOPP ship over the last two years. I have been involved in the scheme for over 12 years, during which time we have seen membership needs evolve dramatically, depending on customer demands. Our 21st anniversary is a time to reflect on our members, and their needs, and also to capture new members whom can benefit enormously from joining BOPP, and being part of a community of certificated growers, packers and producers. A community that sees the need to reduce risk for its customers. BOPP moved to the HTA four years ago. Integration is ongoing and we are benefiting enormously from the support of HTA team. I urge all members to get involved in our anniversary event and hope to see many of you there.”
