Welcoming the news that garden centres in Northern Ireland can re-open from Monday 12 April, James Barnes, Chairman, Horticultural Trades Association said:
“It is fantastic that consumers in Northern Ireland will soon have access to the plants and gardening products they need for getting on with the hobby they’re so passionate about and which benefits both their mental and physical health. We are thankful for the constructive role that Ministers and officials in the executive have played in supporting the industry to reopen. This is a key time in the gardening season, however, so it is disappointing that garden centres will be closed for the Easter weekend.
“Garden centres in Northern Ireland are light, well-ventilated spaces with large outdoor areas and have first class social distancing measures in place, which together with the HTA’s Safe Trading Protocol mean that they are perfectly positioned to welcome customers back safely”
