Employers Toolkit for the EU Citizens Settlement Scheme
The Government has released a toolkit to aid employers in supporting employees and their families who are EU citizens to apply for settled status using the EU Settlement Scheme.
It is good practice for employers wishing to retain EU staff to assist their employees through the application process.
The EU Settlement Scheme allows EU Citizens currently resident in the UK to apply for Settled or Pre-settled status following Brexit. This will allow people to continue to live and work in the UK after December 2020, and means they will be eligible for public services, public funds, pensions and British citizenship if they want to apply.
The Settlement Scheme will be gradually phased in during 2018 with it being fully open by March 2019. Applications need to be made before June 2021 and are now free. originally the Government was going to charge £65 per adult, however the Prime Minsiter rescinded this decision in January 2019.
The Toolkit contains information for employers plus leaflets and posters for distribution to employees clarifying the scheme.
The toolkit can be found on the Government website at the following web address: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/eu-settlement-scheme-employer-toolkit
