The Governments current thinking is that payments to landowners and businesses will be made on the basis that public money need to be used for public good.

With that in mind, an excellent document detailing the potential of reservoirs as ecosystems for use as conservation areas has been published by Melvyn Kay from the UK Irrigation Association.

Businesses may find that utilising the information from within the report in order to access funds via the new Environmental Land Management payment system (ELM) could be fruitful. ELM payment will replace CAP payments and access to EU money post-Brexit.
