The sun has got its hat out ready for a glorious summer. Greenfingers Charity and the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) are encouraging families to make the most of the sunny weather and really enjoy British summer time at its best this year with a garden party as part of National Children’s Gardening Week (NCGW).

Salads, leafy vegetables and tasty herbs are easy to grow and make refreshing accompaniments to picnic nibbles, bbqs and drinks. What better way to celebrate having ‘greenfingers’ than with a garden party where home grown crops are the star attraction.

NCGW, supported by the National Garden Gift Voucher (NGGV) scheme, takes place from 25th May – 2nd June 2019 and is the ideal time to start growing. All you and your guests need to do is set a date and download the to do list at

Turn your party into a little fundraiser by supporting NCGW’s charity partner – Greenfingers. Just put out a collection pot or simply ask guests to follow the charity at

Greenfingers Charity designs and builds magical gardens at hospices for children with serious illnesses. The gardens are a place to play in, relax, or to enjoy with family during a very stressful time.

NCGW is just one of the ways in which NGGVs supports the Greenfingers Charity.  Throughout 2018 and continuing into 2019, NGGVs has been able to use its scheme to raise both funds and awareness:

Raising funds – Between collecting voluntary 50p donations for consumers who purchase NGGVs online, and a commission on NGGV sales, the NGGV scheme has raised nearly £5,000 for Greenfingers in the last year.

NGGVs is also supporting Greenfingers Charity through The Big Gardening Raffle with voucher prizes of £1,000, £500 and £250. The draw date for the raffle is 21 May on The Greenfingers Charity Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Awareness raising – The shipping of NGGV’s collateral, including the vouchers, gift cards, wallets and point of sale all carry the Greenfingers Charity logo, putting the charity in front of millions of consumers every year.
