Its Show Time

With the easing of lockdown, it looks like some of the shows will be returning this year. The APL have a presence at Hampton Court in July and BBC GWL will take place in the last week of August.

The APL will be involved in two garden builds at these shows.

I need to start to gather expressions of interest to support these shows asap, so we can start to sort out schedules and rotas.

Hampton Court.- Hampton Court Palace East Mosely

The APL are supporting MAPL designer Mike Long in his garden “A Place to meet, Again”

We are looking for support with this build from members, anything you can spare really from a day to two or three. Kebur Landscapes are the principle contractor on site. The APL will sort out your passes and get you a ticket to attend the show. We will also provide you with a copy of what ever medal we receive for your own portfolio’s. If you have never been involved in the creation of a show garden, this is a fantastic opportunity to dip your toe in to  the  show garden world and experience the pressure, mixed with the comradery and fun that only a show garden build can provide. It is a great experience for a business and their teams.

The requirement for Hampton Court is from 14th June until 3rd July.

BBC GWL – NEC Birmingham

We are building the long discussed “What Lies Beneath” This garden has been designed by Professor David Stevens and will demonstrate to the public the real cost of having their gardens landscaped. It will achieve his by exposing what lies under the surface. The garden is split across two levels and is 22m long by 8m wide. The deal is the same as Hampton Court and the requirement for this build is 9th August until 24th TBC. This will be a fantastic spectacle and one which will be talked about in the media for sometime. It would be a great one for members to be involved with, particularly those who do not wish to travel in to London.

If you think you are able to help with either of these, let me know. This was a real success for the APL community in 2019. Lets do it again in 2021 #WeAreApl.
