We’re looking for a Media Sales Executive to join our Member Engagement team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for selling sponsorship, advertising, and commercial packages across the HTA’s events, publications, and digital channels. You’ll work with a wide range of businesses across the horticulture sector, helping them reach our influential membership and wider industry audience.

About the HTA
This is a hugely exciting time for the sector and for the HTA. Gardens and managed green spaces and landscapes have never been more important to the UK – for the economy, for the environment and for the nation’s well-being.
The HTA has 1,350 members, including garden retailers, growers, landscapers, and suppliers to the garden industry. The HTA lobbies and campaigns for its members within the horticulture industry and has an excellent reputation. We provide our members with the opportunity to learn, innovate, and network with others in the industry.
We have an effective political lobbying team working to enable the best conditions for our members to flourish across the UK and our research and insights team provide impactful data to help our members run productive and resilient businesses.
We have been running the National Garden Gift scheme since 1962. These garden gift cards can be bought and redeemed at HTA Garden centre members sites throughout the UK and can also be purchased online and in some supermarket gift card malls. It is the biggest garden gift card scheme in the country – locking in around £40 million of consumer spend to horticulture and our members’ businesses.

What you’ll be doing
As Media Sales Executive, you will play a key role in generating commercial revenue for the HTA. You’ll identify and approach prospective sponsors, pitch advertising and sponsorship opportunities, negotiate deals, and manage relationships to ensure excellent client satisfaction.
You’ll work closely with our Events and Marketing teams to deliver sponsorship packages and ensure clients receive the value they expect. You’ll also help identify potential new members for the HTA through your conversations with businesses across the sector.
This is an office‑based role with hybrid working. Regular in‑person collaboration is important to the success of the role.
Key responsibilities:
- Achieving sponsorship and advertising revenue targets
- Generating and closing new sales opportunities
- Building and managing strong client relationships
- Negotiating and securing sponsorship agreements
- Coordinating with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery of client commitments
- Supporting lead generation for HTA membership
- Managing your diary, appointments, and CRM records effectively
What you’ll bring
This role would be ideal for you if you are a highly driven self-starter who thrives working independently, takes full ownership of their sales pipeline, and is motivated by hitting and exceeding revenue targets in a commercially focused environment.
Essential
- Proven track record in sales, ideally 2+ years in event, media, or sponsorship sales
- Demonstrated success in achieving or exceeding revenue targets
- Self-motivated and target-driven, with the initiative and discipline to work autonomously and drive results without close supervision
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
- Seeks every opportunity to build and develop new commercial partnerships
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage a sales pipeline independently
- Confident and professional in meetings and on the phone
- Resilient, proactive, and able to overcome objections
- A collaborative approach and positive team mindset
- Fluent written and spoken English
- IT literate, with experience using MS Office and CRM systems
Desirable
- Experience in a membership organisation
- Experience in the horticulture industry
- Understanding of membership engagement activity
