Meet the Team

Garry is the HTA Horticulture Solutions Manager with the role of working with the OHAS Technical Committee where he has responsibility for development of OHAS and to make sure the Scheme meets the needs of the membership and their customers.  Garry has worked in Horticulture and Agriculture for 30 years employed in technical and assurance roles.

Amber joins the HTA as the Groups, Committees and Assurance Scheme Executive, her role is to provide administrative support to the OHAS Committee and strengthen existing relationships and communication between its members and the HTA.

OHAS Grower and Packhouse Standards

Amy joined Farplants in 2020, bringing with her 13 years of compliance experience and responsibility for various grower and food production standards. Amy is responsible for compliance at Binsted Nursery and is an active member of the Farplants Compliance Committee.  She also works with the team of growers to improve plant health, and is active in instigating the use of responsible and sustainable growing media within the Farplants Group. She joined the OHAS committee in 2021 and is BASIS and FACTS qualified.

Margaret has always had a passion for the cut flower industry, being first involved with her parents cut flower and bulb business. For the past 15 years Margaret has worked for Flamingo International Horticulture, supporting growers and packhouses with the many standards to achieve the best outcome for their own businesses and customers. 

OHAS Growing Media Standard

Andrea is the Head of Professional Growing Media for Sinclair, part of Westland Horticulture Ltd, who specialise in growing media, for both the consumer and professional sectors. Andrea has been in the horticultural industry for over 25 years and has been at the forefront of growing media development in the transition towards peat-free.

Westland Horticulture Ltd have been OHAS certificated since 2008 and Andrea has been an active member of the OHAS Technical Committee since 2016 and is BASIS and FACTS qualified. Andrea believes the OHAS Growing Media Standard has offered an excellent management tool for the business, providing customers with confidence, when purchasing growing media from Westland and Sinclair.

Greg is Managing Director of Hill Brothers, a fourth generation family business specialising in tropical green and flowering pot plants. Having brought OHAS into the business 18 years ago, and having seen the benefits it adds in this regard, he is focused on helping ensure the scheme continues to develop and support even more sectors of the industry.   

OHAS Grower Standard

Stephen joined Coletta and Tyson in March 2022, having previously worked within food manufacturing for the last 30 years as an Operations Manager. Whilst new to the horticultural industry, Stephen has a wealth of experience in both quality management systems and safety, health and environmental management, and has been a technical member of IOSH for the last 20 years.

Stephen is responsible for the both the OHAS Scheme and health and safety management systems at Coletta and Tyson, and joined the OHAS Committee in December 2022.
