To mark the APL’s 30th anniversary, this garden has been designed to illustrate the process of having your garden designed and built by professionals.
Over the past five years, the APL has been working alongside the British Standards Institute to create this new BS 7533-102 for paving. This document defines the requirements for fit-for-purpose construction in the domestic sectors. Previously, there had been no definitive specification, the result of which has contributed to rogue trading and the failure of installation. The new standard is available to everyone, and all APL members will adhere to it.
If you are contemplating a new garden, patio or driveway and you are requesting “like for like” quotations, it is recommended you insist that the contractors provide a specification that falls in line with the new British Standard to ensure you are receiving a fit for purpose project.
A special thank you to all the sponsors who got involved and supported this years RHS Hampton Court Palace 2025 build. The APL is a prime example of a trade association where members support members to work towards a common goal.
