Salary – £24,000 – £26,000 depending on experience, knowledge & skills

We’re looking for a positive, enthusiastic, and proactive Social Media & Content Executive to join our marketing team. You’ll play a key role in shaping our social presence, helping us connect with audiences in authentic, engaging, and exciting ways.

About the HTA

The HTA has 1,350 members, including garden retailers, growers, landscapers, and suppliers to the garden industry. The HTA lobbies and campaigns for its members within the horticulture industry and has an excellent reputation. We provide our members with the opportunity to learn, be creative, and network with others in the industry.

We have been running the National Garden Gift scheme since 1962. These garden gift cards can be bought and redeemed at HTA Garden centre members sites throughout the UK and can also be purchased online and in some supermarket gift card malls. It is the biggest garden gift card scheme in the country – locking in over £30 million of consumer spend to horticulture and our members’ businesses. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the HTA campaigned to ensure garden centres were classified as essential retail, which has increased the profile of the environmental horticultural industry.

About the role

This full-time role is based at our main office in Chilton, Oxfordshire, with hybrid working available. You’ll typically be required in the office 2-3 days per week for team collaboration and can choose to work remotely for the rest of the week. Travel within the UK, including occasional overnight stays, will be required.

Your responsibilities will include:

As our Social Media & Content Executive, you’ll play a key role in delivering creative and engaging digital communications. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Creating standout content (copy, video, visual) that brings our brand voice to life across platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook.
  • Managing the social media calendar and scheduling posts to ensure consistent and timely messaging.
  • Building genuine connections by engaging with our community and responding to comments and messages.
  • Collaborating with marketing, design, and campaign teams to align social media content with wider campaigns and business goals.
  • Monitoring performance and using insights to constantly refine and improve what we do.
  • Supporting paid social campaigns and tracking their results.
  • Staying curious and up to date with the latest trends, tools, and best practices.

About you

  • We’re seeking someone with a creative flair and excellent organisational skills. 

You will also be:

  • Creative and confident in producing content – including short-form video, carousels, and story-led campaigns.
  • Digitally savvy – you understand what makes audiences stop scrolling.
  • Positive and solution-focused – you bring energy to your work and find ways to make things happen.
  • Open-minded and innovative – always seeking better ways to do things
  • Collaborative – a team player who values open communication and shared success  
  • A fast learner – curious and willing to grow professionally
  • A great communicator – with strong writing and interpersonal skills
  • Detail focused – to ensure content is accurate, consistent, and high quality

Essential skills and experience

  • 1+ years of experience working in a social media, content, or digital marketing role.
  • Familiarity with tools like Canva or similar.
  • Understanding of how different platforms work and how to tailor content for each.
  • Great copywriting skills and an eye for visual design.
  • Comfortable using social media scheduling tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Buffer, Hootsuite).
