Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is legislation that makes producers responsible for the costs of managing a product's packaging when it is disposed of at the end of its lifecycle.

Extended Producer Responsibility affects retailers, nurseries, manufacturers and suppliers differently so you MUST understand how it will apply to your business, and what you need to do to comply. As of 1st January 2023, obligated businesses need to be collecting packaging data, and businesses with a fee-paying obligation must report from July 2023. The government portal for data reporting opened in August 2023.
Fees will not apply until 2025, when they will be calculated using 2024 reported data.

If your business was previously obligated under the 2007 Waste Directive, you will be required to continue to comply with this throughout 2024. Ecoveritas are offering an updated workbook to support with this.
