Pearson Memorial Medal

The HTA has awarded the Pearson Memorial Medal for outstanding service to the garden industry annually since it was instigated in 1930 in memory of the HTA's first General Secretary, Charles Pearson.

2025 - Natalie Boynton, Happy Plants

Natalie Boynton, from Happy Plants Ltd and co-founder of the Young People in Horticulture Association (YPHA), the 2025 Pearson Memorial Medal for outstanding service to the garden industry.

Over the last decade, Natalie has originated, led, and substantially contributed to numerous industry initiatives that have created a lasting legacy in UK horticulture. She is paving the way for other young women in the sector and has become the fifth woman to receive this prestigious award in the past 20 years.

2024 - Mike Burks, The Gardens Group

Mike Burks, Managing Director of The Gardens Group, the prestigious 2024 Pearson Memorial Medal. Mike has been at the forefront of environmental work in the garden industry and has been recognised for his outstanding contributions and leadership in the sector. 

2023 - Stan Green, Growforth Ltd

The 2023 Pearson Memorial Medal for outstanding service to the garden industry has been awarded to Stan Green, Director of Growforth Ltd, Chairman of Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) Scotland Policy Development Group and former President of the HTA.  

Alan Down, HTA President, said: 

“Choosing the recipient of the Pearson Memorial Medal this year was easy! Stan Green was the obvious and outstanding choice because of the exceptional work he has done to promote horticulture."
