Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Statement

What we believe in

At the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA), we are committed to embedding diversity, equity and inclusion into our culture and our talent processes.  We recognise that building a culture centred on belonging boosts employee engagement, performance, and wellbeing.

We believe in creating a workplace where our people are treated with dignity and respect, a workplace free of barriers or discrimination in relation to age, race, religion, philosophical belief or lack of belief, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, disability, pregnancy and maternity.

Our guiding principles

Our DEI strategy, driven by a continued commitment from leadership, guides our thinking and actions.  We are focused on doing what is right for our people, our members and our business.  Increasing diversity, equity and inclusion in our workforce is a core part of our business strategy.

To support our progress in DEI within the HTA, we have created a DEI Champions Group, a group of colleagues from across the organisation who are passionate about DEI and making a difference.  Backed fully by our leadership team, our DEI Champions lead, role model and inspire our DEI journey.  We listen, learn and act upon feedback from our colleagues.

The HTA is also very committed to driving positive change in the wider horticulture and landscaping industry and we are proud to play a key role in the pan-industry Access All Areas initiative set up to foster a more inclusive and equitable industry.

Our responsibility

The HTA complies with the Equality Act, 2010 and understands its duties under the Act.  As an organisation, we treat any reports of discrimination seriously.  Should a report arise, the HTA will ensure it is thoroughly investigated and appropriate action taken in line with our policies and procedures.
