Important Event Information

Some HTA members and Exhibitors of HTA Events have received emails asking if they wish to purchase a visitors/attendees list for the National Plant Show/Garden Press Event/ APL Awards and Horticulture, The Conference.

The HTA has procedures in place to ensure adherence to the UK General Data Protection regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 and does not share personal data to any third party intending to sell or market this information.

This is a phishing or scam email, if you receive this, please refer to your own company policies and follow your company procedure to report this as a phishing email.

Scammers selling HTA membership data

 

Example:

"I'm checking in to see whether you're still interested in getting the list of Distribution/Member List.
 
Horticultural Trades Association 2023 (1000+ contacts) 
         
I'm waiting for your response so I can let you know the Price and additional information.
 

This is a SCAM as HTA will never sell information in adherence to the UK General Data Protection regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 and does not share personal data to any third party intending to sell or market this information.

 

Phishing Emails

Emails acting as an HTA Events staff member asking for personal details 

 

This is a phishing email seeking personal details - please be aware of the following factors which should allow you to spot a phishing email: 

  1. Poorly written email: incorrect spelling and grammar. 
  2. Email domain is wrong: Instead of the email coming from Microsoft Online, it comes from micrsftonline for instance
  3. It includes suspicious attachments and links
  4. The message create a sense of urgency to act fast or complete this quickly
